Get rich quick?

Our court system is meant to help people who have been truly wronged, not to help lawyers get rich quick. Lawsuits can drain a company’s resources and damage our economy by driving companies to lay off employees or go out of business entirely.

In a recent class action lawsuit against Ticketmaster, class members were given a $1.50 credit for each transaction up to a total of 17 to be applied toward future purchases. Lawyers on the other hand stood to make up to $16.5 million.

We’ve all seen it: That letter in the mail inviting you to join a class action lawsuit with a large potential payout.   But in class action lawsuits, who really wins?

As this article mentions, while lawyers stand to make a killing, landing on the winning side in a class action lawsuit may translate to little more than chump change for members of the class.
