Texans Against Lawsuit Abuse

New York Times best-selling author and popular Fox Business Network host John Stossel joined over 375 supporters of East Texans Against Lawsuit Abuse (ETALA) in Longview, TX on April 26 as part of the national "Create Jobs, Not Lawsuits" tour. Stossel spoke about his new book, No They Can’t! Why Government Fails - But Individuals Succeed and congratulated ETALA on its 20^th anniversary.

ETALA Chairman Reuben Martin said, “What keeps us going is the support of East Texans who understand the price we all pay for abusive lawsuits and abusive legal tactics.”

Although East Texas is still listed on Judicial Hellholes’ watch list, ETALA is working to fix the lawsuit abuse problem. According to Martin, “East Texas consumers and employers have much at stake in this effort, and over the years, their support of ETALA and their passionate dedication to help stamp out lawsuit abuse has been invaluable.”

Stossel also joined Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse of Central Texas (CALACTX) in Austin for another "Create Jobs, Not Lawsuits" tour stop on April 27. According to Stossel, “Groups like the Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse of Central Texas are standing on the front lines of the fight against dangerous government overreach and lawsuit abuse that’s costing Americans, small business owners and taxpayers billions each year.”

We all suffer the costs of lawsuit abuse, either directly or indirectly. Common sense legal reforms have allowed Texas to become a model for the rest of the nation. In the last few years, we have cut the number of frivolous lawsuit and created countless jobs for Texans. It’s time we take our model nationwide!
