High Tech Aerospace Firm Relocates to Midland, Credits Tort Reform as Business Incentive
Texas continues to attract business from across the nation, including coveted high tech firms like XCOR Aerospace, who recently announced their relocation to Midland. XCOR specializes in cutting-edge aerospace technology and is a pioneer in the burgeoning private space travel industry. The move is expected to create more than 100 high-end jobs, making the Midland area a destination for future aerospace research and development.
These days, stories like XCOR’s are commonplace in Texas. But, as we celebrate the sustained success of Texas’ business boom, it’s important to understand the role that common sense legal reforms have played in attracting firms like XCOR to our state. As Midland Development Corp. Executive Director Pam Welch said, “Once the technical and operational needs of XCOR were met, the final factors influencing the decision to locate R&D to Midland included the friendly business climate, a predictable regulatory environment and the State of Texas tort reform initiatives. These factors allowed XCOR to see a long term future happening in Midland." Legal reforms keep us competitive and play a large role in creating jobs.
