Suits without merit

According to a poll from the Harvard School of Public Health, 40 percent of medical malpractice suits filed nationally are “without merit.” Yet despite the frivolous nature of many suits, juries often award millions to plaintiffs — and their trial lawyers.

 

Here in Texas we have made great progress in the flight to reform the medical malpractice industry and bring more fairness to our court system. While other parts of the country have seen a decrease in the number of doctors (and a growing trend of defensive medicine), Texas on the other hand has enacted medical malpractice reforms, allowing our number of doctors (and quality of care) to rise.
